Wild Ride: NJ Man Drives Stolen Tow Truck into Traffic

According to the Washington Township Police Department, a 27-year-old man from New Jersey hijacked a tow truck on Monday and then drove into oncoming traffic.

Dylan Davis was accused with driving while intoxicated, assault by auto, first-degree carjacking, and third-degree theft of a motor vehicle.

Officers arrived in the vicinity of Delsea Drive and Salina Road at around 1:50 p.m. in response to a report of an automobile accident involving injuries.
In order to secure a car on the flatbed, the driver of a Riehl's Towing tow truck had pulled over along Delsea Drive close to the Dollar General shop.

Then Davis climbed in and drove away. After that, the driver was hurt after falling off the truck.

Authorities claim that Davis then struck two cars head-on along Delsea Drive after driving recklessly into oncoming traffic.

The other two drivers were transported to the hospital after suffering injuries.

Davis left the scene of the collision on foot, but Washington Police Officer Matthew Tucker apprehended him right away.

Officers thought Davis was intoxicated, so they obtained a telephone search order at Cooper University Hospital to take his blood.

More charges may be filed, the Department added.
