Rain or Shine: St. Patrick's Day Parade in Full Swing

On Saturday, March 9, the Ocean County St. Patrick's Day Parade will retake the Boulevard in Seaside Heights. The Ocean County St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee has announced that the event will take place this year rain or shine.

The yearly Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 100 Grant Ave., Seaside Heights, starts at 10 a.m. on parade day. Participants then set up at J Street, which is located at the southernmost point of the borough. At noon, the parade begins, traveling north down the Boulevard until it reaches Carteret Avenue.

The 40-foot American flag is delivered and all bagpipe bands perform "Amazing Grace" during the Massed Band, which marks the conclusion of the procession. There's a post-parade celebration at the Hershey Motel, 1415 Boulevard. The featured act is none other than The Drunkin' Clams.

This years Grand Marshal is former Toms River Councilman Kevin Goeghegan.

Irishwoman of the year will be Posthumously bestowed upon Ms. Erin Ryan
