Recalled Eye Drops in NJ Pose Life-Threatening Infection Risk

Recall Alert

RECALL ALERT

Two kinds of eye drops may be contaminated, which could result in a serious and perhaps fatal illness, according to health officials alerting consumers in New Jersey and around the country.

Consumers are advised last week not to purchase "and to immediately stop using" Dr. Berne's MSM Drops 5 percent Solution and LightEyez MSM Eye Drops - Eye Repair, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

According to FDA's description, users should properly dispose of these goods. Using contaminated eye drops could cause a slight to serious infection that could damage your vision and possibly even put your life in danger.

FDA is not currently aware of any reports of adverse events linked to use of either product. Patients who exhibit symptoms of an eye infection should consult their healthcare provider right away or take other immediate action to get treated.

The Dr. Berne’s MSM Drops were found to have both bacterial and fungal contamination, while the LightEyez MSM Drops were found to have four different bacterial contaminants.

Dr. Berne’s consumers with questions about the recall can contact Dr. Berne’s Whole Health Products at (877) 239-3777 Mon-Fri 9-5 pm Mountain time.
