Son Arrested: Investigation Links Him to Father’s Death in NJ

Son Charged In Connection With Father's Death

Yu Chavarria

According to Mercer County Prosecutors Office, authorities claimed that a 23-year-old man from East Windsor has been charged in relation to the death of his father.

Yu Chavarria faces a single accusation of manslaughter in the second degree.

In response to a report of an unconscious individual, East Windsor police were called to a residence on Twin Rivers Drive North at approximately 7 a.m. on Thursday.

When police arrived, they discovered 58-year-old Edgar Chavarria, the property's tenant, bleeding from his head and face on the kitchen floor, according to the authorities. At the scene, they declared him dead.

Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri stated that Yu Chavarria struck his father in the face several times with his fist and once with his head following a verbal quarrel between the father and son on Thursday morning that escalated into a violent altercation.

The East Windsor Township Police Department, namely Detectives Joe Zucchero and Tim Bruey of the MCHTF, and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force carried out the investigation.

The prosecutor's office has submitted a request to hold Chavarria in custody pending trial.
