STORM WATCH: Torrential Rain, Thunderstorms & Gusty Winds Expected in NJ
For the next several days, there is a risk of rain in New Jersey. This includes Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, when powerful storms and strong winds may result in floods and power outages.
As much as 1.75 inches of rain are predicted, and wind gusts as high as 40 mph are predicted for Thursday, according to the
National Weather Service on Tuesday.
On Friday morning, the Jersey Shore is predicted to experience the greatest winds.
A significant portion of the East Coast, extending from North Carolina to Maine, is expected to see mild to moderate coastal flooding on Thursday and Friday due to high tides, according to AccuWeather.com.
Strong winds may potentially topple trees and cause blackouts, according to the private weather predicting firm.
On Friday, the winds in New Jersey will lessen, but showers and possibly even a thunderclap are still possible. We should eventually see partly sunny skies with temperatures reaching the 60s.
Forecasters suggest that the weekend will be dry and sunny, with highs on Saturday close to 60 degrees and on Sunday flirting with 70.
