The LBI bridge was closed in both directions on Sunday morning due to concerns about a suspicious bag under the Route 72 causeway bridge, according to police.

Following an inquiry by the New Jersey State Police, Stafford police said the bag was "deemed safe and non-threatening." "After that, both directions of bridge traffic were reopened," Stafford police said in a Facebook post.

At about 10:20 a.m., police received a complaint regarding a "strange bag beneath the RT. 72 East Causeway Bridge, near Morris Boulevard," according to the post. "After that, both lanes of bridge traffic were opened."
