Three Cars on Fire in the Parking Lot of Caffrey’s Restaurant in Lacey

Fire at Caffrey's in Lacey Township

On Thursday evening, a driver took video of three automobiles on fire outside Caffrey's Tavern on Route 9 in  Forked River.

The automobiles can be seen in flames amid heavy smoke in the restaurant's parking area adjacent to a utility pole in the brief video.

According to Lacey Township Police Lt. Paul Sullivan, the event was sparked by a transformer fire that erupted Thursday night.

Officers arrived at the scene at 6:56 p.m. and stayed for almost four hours, according to Sullivan.

According to police, no one was hurt.

The fire broke out at the same time that severe thunderstorms passed across the area.

According to officials, the blaze was put out by the Forked River Fire Department. According to Sullivan, workers from the state Department of Transportation were in charge of traffic control on the road as JCP&L fixed the fell wires from the pole.
