Three Individuals are Rescued From a Grounded Boat in Little Egg Harbor by a Coast Guard Helicopter

Coast Guard Rescue Three in Egg Harbor

Authorities reported the Coast Guard rescued three passengers from a grounded boat at the entrance to Little Egg Harbor on Sunday.

On VHF Channel 16, watchkeepers at the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay command center got word that Phyllis II, a 36-foot pleasure yacht, had run aground. As an international distress frequency, Channel 16 is used.

The Coast Guard dispatched a 29-foot response boat from Coast Guard Station Atlantic City to the area, but the boatcrew was unable to approach the trapped vessel due to low tide. The boat was five miles northeast of Brigantine when it was discovered.

The helicopter MH-65 Dolphin was launched. The three seamen were rescued from the Phyllis II and transported to the Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City in Pomona by the airmen.
