Fire Still Under Investigation

Authorities reported a fire severely destroyed a home on Oak Avenue in the Cedar Run neighborhood in Stafford Township Tuesday afternoon, but the residents were able to escape.

Around midday, the fire was discovered.

Three people were able to escape the blazing residence with the assistance of authorities, according to Stafford Police Capt. James Vaughn.

The cause is still being looked into.

While firemen battled the incident, flames erupted from both ends of the house. Other fire companies from Barnegat, Parkertown, Forked River, and Eagleswood joined Stafford Emergency Medical Services and firefighters. The fire is being investigated by the Stafford Township Bureau of Fire Prevention, the Ocean County Fire Marshall and the Stafford Township Detective Bureau.
