According to Toms River Police Department, police units were called to Route 9 near the intersection of Hecht Drive on Sunday, May 21, 2023, around 7:40 PM, for a traffic accident. According to the preliminary inquiry, Elvis Guadulupe Dominguez Avila (unknown address) was driving southbound on Route 9 when he lost control, collided with an incoming car, and forced the other car off the road and into a driveway exit, where it impacted a third car.
The three vehicles' six occupants were all sent to various hospitals, including Monmouth Medical South, Community Medical Center, and three to Jersey Shore Medical University. The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Ocean County Sheriff CSI, and the State Diversion team all provided assistance at the scene.
