Toms River Auto Dealership Hit by Multiple Thefts: Pair Arrested

According to Stafford Township Police Department, authorities said on Thursday that two males were discovered in a car that had been taken from a Toms River auto dealership and were being charged with numerous counts of auto theft.

According to authorities, Toms River residents Eli Angel Perez, 21, and Kevin C. Downes, 30, were taken into custody early on Wednesday in Stafford Township.

Perez and Downes were seated inside the red 2021 Hyundai Tucson that Stafford police discovered in the Exxon parking lot after receiving a report of it traveling east on Route 72. According to authorities, the SUV was indeed taken from Lester Glenn Hyundai in Toms River.

The two males were also found to have stolen a white 2020 Hyundai Tucson, another New Jersey registration, and several motor vehicle burglaries from the Lester Glenn business, according to a joint investigation by Stafford and Toms River police.

According to authorities, the pilfered vehicles and belongings were found and given back to the rightful owners.

In anticipation of detention hearings, Perez and Downes are being detained at the Ocean County Jail in Toms River.

According to jail records, Perez is accused of two counts of receiving stolen property, three counts of auto theft, and two crimes of burglary. According to jail records, Downes is accused of two charges of intentionally receiving stolen items, four counts of auto theft, and two counts of burglary.
