Toms River Legend Todd Frazier and Community Rally to Support 11 Year Old Boy with Cancer

Toms River Legend Todd Frazier and Community Rally to Support Jackson Boy with Cancer

Alex Kacmarsky

On November 3, 2023, a fundraiser was held in support of 11 year old Alex Kacmarsky from Jackson, New Jersey who was recently diagnosed with stage four cancer Rhabdomyosarcoma .

Alex and his family are receiving treatment at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Holbrook Little Leaguers organized a benefit game that raised thousands of dollars for them. Equally significant: It offered moral support, which is absolutely essential for anyone taking on this kind of task.

Jackson's very own Santa Claus, "Santa Jim" Mitchell, who has spent the last ten years doing good deeds all throughout the area, threw out the opening pitch.

Additionally, Todd Frazier, a two-time Major League Baseball All-Star, stopped by to encourage Alex and sign autographs for the cause.

Alex's diagnosis was almost accidental. He suffered a severe fall on his left hip while playing soccer in September. The persistent pain and swelling forced a trip to the doctor. The cause was juvenile soft tissue cancer known as rhabdomyosarcoma.

In Alex's instance, it began in the hip and proceeded to the lymph nodes. In order to safeguard his immune system throughout chemotherapy, the sixth-grader at Christa McAuliffe Middle School in Jackson is currently learning virtually.

The appearance of Frazier, the baseball superstar from Toms River who played for the Yankees, Mets, and other Major League Baseball organizations after shining on the diamond at Rutgers was a surprise for young Alex.

Frazier not only autographed a baseball bat for the Kacmarsky family, he also signed autographs for the fundraiser and encouraged Alex to stay strong.

The young man was informed by the former major leaguer, "You make all of us so proud."

"What a nice guy he is," Jennifer Kacmarsky remarked.

A total of $23,000 was raised for Alex and his family between the baseball game and the photo session.

Another fundraiser is scheduled on Sunday, December 3rd called a "Winter Wonderland" event at the Cassville Volunteer Fire Company on Miller Avenue in Jackson. Take Photos with Santa from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will also be a gift auction, kid-friendly choral music, hot food, and themed drinks.

There will be "You Got This, Alex" merch available. At the door, donations will be accepted.
