Toms River Schools Removal of the Mask Mandate and Procedures

End Mask Mandate

The CDC Has Announced That Masks Will Not Be Required on Public or Private School Buses or Vans

Beginning March 7, students in New Jersey will no longer be required to wear masks on school buses. This adjustment is in line with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's new guidance, which was announced on Friday.

The CDC said on February 25 that "masks are not required to be worn on buses or vans run by public or private school systems, including early care and education/childcare programs."

The mask mandate in New Jersey schools will be abolished on March 7, according to Gov. Phil Murphy. The lift is now being expanded to include school buses.

What Does This Mean for Toms River Students?

According to Dr. Stephen Genco, Superintendent of Schools beginning March 7, 2022, Toms River Regional Schools will be mask optional in all settings, including buses, in accordance with the state's repeal of the mask mandate in schools.

In addition, due to the sharp drop in COVID-19 cases in the community and inside Toms River schools, the district will no longer require unvaccinated, asymptomatic kids or employees to be quarantined if they are confirmed to be "close contacts" of a COVID-19 case in school.

Since the winter break, this decision has been taken following careful examination and analysis of district-wide statistics. Superintendent Genco also states that that unvaccinated household close contacts will still be required to quarantine for five days after the last date of contact.

He says please do not send your child to school or go to work with Covid-19 symptoms or you are sick. Please see a recent letter that was sent out to parents, teachers and staff.
