Ron Marinaccio of Toms River made his Major League debut for the Yankees

On Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium, Ron Marinaccio of Toms River made his Major League debut for the Yankees, striking out two batters and keeping the Red Sox off the score.

"Definitely a lot of adrenaline," Marinaccio added. "It's as great a moment as I could have walked into, plus it's Yankees-Red Sox, so I'm delighted I got it out of the way by killing two birds with one stone."

After Luis Severino's first start of the season, Marinaccio was the first pitcher out of the bullpen. In the fourth inning, Severino let up a single to the leadoff batter, ending his effort. Marinaccio then stepped in and gave Trevor Story a four-pitch walk for his first batter faced.

Marinaccio made the Yankees Opening Day roster earlier this month after a strong spring training, not allowing an earned run in six appearances. Ron was a 19th round selection by the Yankees in the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft after pitching at the University of Delaware. Marinaccio is the first Yankees player to ever wear the number 97 during a regular season game.
