Due to the Possibility of Salmonella Infection, Some Kinder Chocolate Products Have Been Recalled

Kinder Recall

Potential Salmonella Contamination

A chocolate company based in Parsippany has recalled some of its products due to salmonella contamination. Ferrero U.S.A. Inc. has voluntarily recalled some items, including Easter goodies, according to the US Food and Drug Administration.

Ferrero's recall includes two products:

  • BJ's Wholesale Clubs and Cosco in the Bay Area and Northern Nevada sold Kinder Happy Moments Milk Chocolate and Crispy Wafers Assortment.
  • 14 Big Y Supermarket locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts sell the Kinder Mix Chocolate Treats Basket.
  • According to the FDA, no other Kinder-branded items made for the American market were included in the decision.

The chocolates were made in a plant in Arlon, Belgium, where salmonella was discovered. The Arlon facility produces around 7% of all Kinder goods worldwide. Ferrero has halted operations at the plant.

"Ferrero acknowledges internal inefficiencies that resulted in delays in accessing and disseminating information in a timely manner," the business stated in a press release.

According to the FDA's notification on Thursday, there have been no reports of disease associated to Ferraro's goods in the United States. However, because of reported salmonella outbreaks from consumers in Europe, the business recalled the items made at the Belgian site.

Anyone who bought the tainted products should avoid eating them. Customers can request refunds by contacting Ferrero's customer service line online or calling 1-800-688-3552 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
