Tragic Murder-Suicide at the Jersey Shore
Following a request for a wellness check, officers of the Keyport Police Department were dispatched to a property on Chingarora Avenue on Tuesday morning, March 19. Responding law enforcement police discovered that the 37-year-old victim, Ekaterina Kalyapina, and her 39-year-old husband, Ilya Gagin, were both dead.
Two tiny dogs were found inside the house, unhurt. After being notified, the MCSPCA arrived and seized possession of the dogs.
The two died of homicide and suicide, respectively, according to an autopsy performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner's Office.
