Robert Trout, 27, of Lanoka Harbor
According to Manchester police, a man from Ocean County in Lacey Township was killed on Pasadena Road on Wednesday when his motorcycle veered off the road and struck a tree.
According to Manchester Capt. James Komsa, the collision that occurred at about 4:35 p.m. near the intersection of Buckingham Road left Robert Trout, 27, of the Lanoka Harbor neighborhood, with serious injuries.
According to Komsa, a witness to the collision immediately dialed 911, and police officers and Manchester Township EMTs started performing life-saving procedures on the man.
Trout was transported by ambulance to Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, where he eventually passed away from his injuries, according to Komsa. Trout was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the collision.
Also according to Komsa, the inquiry revealed that Trout, who was traveling west on Pasadena Road on a 2017 Yamaha motorcycle, was attempting to pass another car. Trout attempted to pass, but he lost control, sending the motorcycle careening off the road and into a tree. When the motorcycle struck the tree, Komsa claimed that Trout was flung from it.
Speed and driver error appear to be major causes, according to the preliminary investigation being conducted by Patrolmen Jose Diaz and Brendan Brush of the department's Traffic Safety Unit, Komsa said.
The crash investigation took place over a period of several hours with Pasadena Road closed.
