Two Young Lives Remembered After Tragic Boating Accident in Ocean County

The Jersey Shore community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of two siblings whose lives were tragically cut short in a boating accident.

A sibling bond is a love that lasts forever. Mya and Siggy were not only brother and sister, but best friends who shared laughter, adventures, and countless memories. Now they continue their journey together, hand in hand, carrying their love beyond this world and leaving behind a beautiful reminder of the unbreakable bond they shared.

Mya Bella Golabek

Born on April 6, 2017, Mya Bella Golabek entered this world and brought a light that touched everyone around her. In her 9 beautiful years, she filled the lives of her family and friends with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Mya was a sweet, fun-loving girl who loved being active and had a competitive spirit that shined in everything she did. She had a passion for softball and basketball, where her determination, energy, and love for the game always stood out.

She also loved swimming, spending time at the beach, and crabbing on summer days and nights. Mya’s creativity came alive through crafting and drawing, where she loved creating, expressing herself, and sharing her artistic side with those around her.

Mya shared a special love with her two dogs, Tequila and Captain. They were a source of comfort, companionship, and so many happy moments in her life. The bond she shared with them showed the loving, nurturing, and gentle spirit that made Mya such a special person

Mya’s beautiful smile, kind heart, and joyful personality made her someone truly special. She had a way of bringing happiness wherever she went and making those around her feel loved.

Although Mya’s time on Earth was far too short, the love she shared and the memories she created will never be forgotten. She will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, teammates, and all who were lucky enough to know her.

Sigmund Paul Golabek

Born on November 29, 2018, Sigmund Paul Golabek brought a special kind of joy into the world from the very beginning. In his 7 beautiful years, he filled the hearts of his family and friends with laughter, love, and memories that will be cherished forever.

Siggy was a sweet, shy, but adventurous little boy with a big imagination and a personality all his own. He loved the excitement of basketball, baseball, the fun of swimming, and the adventures that came from the things he loved most. He had a special love for Sonic and dinosaurs, which brought him so much happiness and showed his playful imagination.

Siggy also had a special bond with his dogs, Tequila and Captain. They were more than pets to him — they were his companions, his friends, and a source of so much love and happiness. The joy he shared with them was a beautiful reflection of his caring and gentle heart.

Siggy was a true momma’s boy who shared a special love and connection with his mother. He was always looking for a little fun and loved challenging her to a game of rock-paper-scissors, usually with a bet involved. Siggy also shared his first name with his father, creating a special connection they would always carry with them. Their special handshake was a little tradition that was uniquely theirs and will forever remain a treasured memory.

Some of Siggy’s favorite moments were spent surrounded by his cousins and friends. He loved playing, laughing, and making memories with the people who meant the most to him. His sweet smile, gentle heart, and playful spirit brought happiness to everyone around him.

Although Siggy’s time here was much too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain forever. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, teammates, and all who were blessed to know him.

Mya and Sigmund are survived by their parents, Jennifer and Sigmund Golabek; grandparents Laurie and Steven Schneider, Roseann Chiarella, Sigmund Golabek, and Dawn Poppe; aunts and uncles Ashley and Zachary Davidson, Sara and Ralph Guzzi, and Taylor Bottomly; cousins Gianna, Nico, Macie, Luciana, and Tori; great aunts and uncles Deborah Bottomly, Wayne Cisecki, Elaine and Mike Chiarella, Joanne and Elmer Manick, Lynn Tedeschi, Joann and Kevin McGinnis and Robin Pollard; and great grandparents Samuel Chiarella, Frank and Anne Schneider and her extended cousins, family, and friends who will forever cherish their memory. They were preceded in death by their great grandparents Margaret and Paul Cisecki, Sarah Chiarella, and Mary and Sigmund Golabek.
