When do the Clocks Spring Forward This Year?

Daylight Savings Time in 2022

Spring Forward

On Sunday, March 12, 2023, clocks will "spring forward" one hour and we will lose an hour of sleep overnight as part of Daylight Saving Time.

Though we've had a little more light each day since the winter solstice on Dec. 21, the significant change will be triggered at 2 a.m. on March 12 when clocks move to 3 a.m. with the shift to Daylight Saving Time. Sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour later on Mar 12, 2023 than the day before.

Daylight Saving Time always begins the second Sunday in March and ends the first Sunday in November.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, multiple legislation have been introduced in New Jersey's state legislature to make Daylight Saving Time the official time all year. None have been passed, but any bill would require congressional approval to be implemented because federal law prohibits year-round Daylight Saving Time.
