Woman Extricated From Her Vehicle in Toms River

According to fire department officials, a woman had to be extricated from her vehicle after a collision on Sunday.

According to East Dover Fire Company Chief Joe Catapano, the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. Sunday on Fischer Boulevard near Shore Boulevard.

According to Catapano and Silverton Fire Chief John Keating, the woman was unresponsive and confined in her vehicle when they arrived.

East Dover firefighters stabilized the vehicle, and hydraulic rescue equipment were used to remove the driver's side door and roof. Silverton firemen also assisted in the extrication, which took 17 minutes, according to Catapano.

Jersey Shore University Medical Center was the woman's destination. Her injuries were unknown at the time.

The crash remains under investigation.
