Woman Fatally Shot in South Jersey, Prosecutor Confirms

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office and Atlantic City police have charged a man in connection with the shooting death of a 22-year-old woman last week.

At around 9:30 p.m. on April 22, officers from the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a complaint of a shooting at 2202 Hamilton Ave., Apartment D in Atlantic City.
Jaylou Marlenne Pineda Lopez, 22, of Atlantic City, was shot and subsequently declared dead, according to an investigation conducted by the Major Crimes Unit of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office in collaboration with the Atlantic City Police Department.

On April 29, authorities announced that Franklin J. Felipe De La Paz, 26, of Atlantic City, was charged with both possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine and aggravated manslaughter.

On April 30, Felipe De La Paz was arrested in Pleasantville. According to the statement, members of the United States Marshals Service, Homeland Security Investigations, Pleasantville Police Department, Atlantic City Police Department, and the Major Crimes Unit of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office made the arrest.
It's unclear how Pineda Lopez and Felipe De La Paz are related.

The inquiry is still underway, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
