Woman Stabbed By Passenger While Driving in Toms River

Stabbing at N. Bay Avenue, near the intersection of Whitty Road

According to the Toms River Police Department, at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, police units were dispatched to N. Bay Avenue, near the intersection of Whitty Road, for a reported domestic violence incident involving a stabbing. A  female victim was driving when her passenger began stabbing her.  According to police, she pulled over to the side of the road and got out of the car,  but the male suspect followed her and continued to attack her. 

A concerned citizen intervened to stop the culprit and detain him until the police arrived. The woman was brought by ambulance to Jersey Shore Medical Center, where her injuries are being treated with surgery.

The individual was charged with attempted homicide in the first degree and other weapons charges. The Toms River Police Detective Bureau is still looking into the event. The charges were approved by The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
