Alert: Snow Squalls Expected in NJ Before Weekend Storms
Before the threat of two larger systems hitting the area this weekend with heavy rain, strong winds, flooding, and thunderstorms, some Garden State counties may see rain and a snow squall beforehand.
The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for Sussex, Warren, and Morris counties at 12:30 p.m., alerting forecasters to the possibility of a sudden downpour that could drastically impair visibility on roads.
Exercise extreme caution, slow down, and give yourself more room from the car in front of you. When unexpected whiteout conditions arise, stay vigilant and use the closest exit or stay off the road until the squall passes.
The National Weather Service reports that the first of two significant storms that are expected to affect New Jersey later this week might come into the northeast as early as Friday night. According to the forecast service, North Jersey might even see some snow before it turns into rain if the temperature drops low enough.
The two major storms are expected to merge during the weekend, according to
AccuWeather meteorologists. They are now developing close to the Gulf and the Canada border, respectively. There will be a chance of substantial beach erosion from the Carolinas to New Jersey, as well as coastal flooding during high tide.
Although the majority of the storm is expected to pass across the area by Saturday afternoon, AccuWeather noted that low clouds and rain might cause drizzle and breezes to persist into Sunday in the Garden State.
Despite the fact that the state is expected to see temperatures as high as fifty degrees, the National Weather Service warned that gusts of up to thirty miles per hour might make the area even colder.
