NJ Resident Killed by Falling Branch in Storm
Police in Scotch Plains are looking into a fatal single-car collision caused by bad weather.
According to officials, at around 8:08 p.m. Jared C. Hirschowitz, 41, of Scotch Plains, was driving east on Raritan Road on Friday when a tree limb struck the car's hood during a strong storm, knocking it off the road.
After that, the car hit a tree and a bush before stopping at 2150 Raritan Road.
The impact of the collision killed Hirschowitz, the car's driver. The car's passenger was transported to a nearby hospital and is anticipated to make a full recovery.
The Union County Crash Team, the Scotch Plains Police Department, and the Union County Medical Examiner's Office are still investigating the crash.
