On Route 37 at Lowell Avenue, the site of a former garden center, stands the newest addition to Toms River, NJ. The Farm Store. It is actually the first to appear in the State of New Jersey.

Farm Stores are a Florida-based drive-thru convenience store chain. Joe D'Albero, New Jersey Representative for the Farm Stores, stated Toms River Farm Store will open first, a store will also be coming to Atlantic City Boulevard in Beachwood with future locations in Brick and in Morris and Sussex counties.

SO HOW DOES IT WORK?

Farm Stores, which describes itself as a combination grocery store, bakery and cafe, is not your typical drive-thru. There are no intercoms or drive-up windows.

Instead, they drive up and place their order with an attendant or via a mobile application. The store carries essential grocery items, such as milk, bread, eggs and fresh produce, plus bakery products such as baguettes or bagels, as well as soups, salads and sandwiches.

An attendant brings your order to the car or pops it in the trunk.
