A 59-year-old Barnegat Woman Was Killed in an Automobile Accident Along Barnegat Boulevard and Cole Drive

Alice Torsiello, 59, of Barnegat

According to the Barnegat Police Department, a 59-year-old township woman died in a weekend crash on Barnegat Boulevard.

Barnegat police performed lifesaving measures on Alice Torsiello, 59, but she succumbed to her injuries, they said. Alice Toriello was pronounced dead at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Stafford just before 4 p.m. Sunday from injuries she sustained in the crash, according to authorities.

Toriello was attempting to make a left turn from Cole Drive onto Barnegat Boulevard when her vehicle collided with another vehicle on the northbound side of the boulevard, which was going for Route 9, according to an initial inquiry.

Barnegat Boulevard is a four-lane county road with a grassy median running in the middle.

Rudolph Schoenberg, 28, of Waretown, the driver of the second vehicle, was injured in the incident but refused medical treatment at the scene, according to police.

Along with police from the Barnegat Township Police Department, the Ocean County Sheriff's Department's Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Division is investigating.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Barnegat Patrolman Michael Moore or Detective Jim Purcell at 609-698-5000.
