A Toms River Man Has Been Charged with Conducting a Narcotics Production Factory Out of a Home in Holiday City

A Toms River man who was allegedly running a drug production facility out of a home in Holiday City has been indicted.

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Daniel Kessel, 36, was charged with maintaining or operating a controlled dangerous substance production facility, financial facilitation of criminal activity, possession of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) with intent to distribute, possession of more than five pounds of hashish with intent to distribute, and possession of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and possession of hashish, according to Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

According to the prosecutor's office, Berkeley Township investigators discovered Kessel was using a residence in the Holiday City part of Berkeley Township for narcotics distribution.

On Aug. 25, 2020, a search of Kessel's residence yielded 7 pounds of hashish, 2 pounds of THC, drug paraphernalia, equipment and materials indicative of narcotics manufacturing and distribution, and nearly $18,000 in cash, according to the prosecutor's office.

According to the prosecutor's office, detectives discovered Kessel had a safe deposit box at a Bank of America branch in Toms River, and on Aug. 26, 2020, they executed a search warrant and seized $61,000 from the safe deposit box.

Kessel was arrested and sent to the Ocean County Jail, but due to New Jersey Bail Reform, he was eventually released.
