As Demand for COVID-19 Tests Rises, Walgreens and CVS in New Jersey are Limiting the number of tests Available

Limit on Covid Home Tests

Customers Can Now Purchase a Limited Number of COVID-19 Tests at a Time from Walgreens, Walmart, and CVS.

As case rates in New Jersey remain high and demand for tests rises as the holidays approach, Walgreens, Walmart, and CVS are limiting the number of COVID-19 tests customers may buy at once.

Walgreens was the first to set limits, allowing customers to buy four take-home tests at once. The policy is in effect both online and in stores. The retailer is hopeful that the purchase limit would help to increase inventory levels, and it has stated that it will continue to work with suppliers to meet customer expectations.

CVS responded by announcing its own restrictions on at-home testing, allowing customers to buy five at a time. According to CNN, Amazon (10 test kits per customer) and Walmart (eight test kits per online client) both issued COVID-19 test kit limits to customers this week.

On Wednesday, New Jersey recorded 9,711 new COVID cases, the largest daily total since the epidemic began over two years ago, as well as 28 new COVID-related deaths.

According to the CDC, the potentially more contagious omicron form is currently responsible for 75% of all new infections.

The results of the COVID-19 PCR test should arrive in 24 to 48 hours, according to Walgreens. According to the company, rapid point-of-care testing are also accessible, and results will continue to be available in less than 24 hours.
