Chihuahua Rescued from Urine-Soaked Bags Along NJ Railroad Tracks

Chihuahua discovered on railroad

Terrible Act of Animal Cruelty

According to a post on the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter Facebook page, a man walking his dog near railroad tracks in Vineland on Saturday made a frightening discovery.

The man's dog responded to a bag on the ground near the tracks as he and his dog passed by. The man then noticed a movement in the bag and heard something inside.

The bag was delivered to the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter by the man. Two more sealed duffle bags were discovered within the bag when it was opened.

A shelter tech is seen breaking open the third bag in a video sent to the shelter's Facebook page, and an obviously terrified young female chihuahua called Coco is found inside.

According to the shelter's post, the bags and Coco were coated with urine. A veterinarian was expected to examine the dog later in the day on Saturday.

The South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter has reported a "horrific act of cruelty" to Vineland Police, and they are requesting anybody with information about Coco to call the police at 856-691-4111.
