FREE Summer Meals Resume at Ocean County YMCA
At its campus in Toms River, located at 1088 West Whitty Road, the
YMCA will once more serve FREE summer meals beginning Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
Around 22 million children receive free or reduced-cost meals as a result of the National School Lunch Program, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. However, after the school year is finished, only 17% of those same students can get free meals during the summer vacation, depriving many kids of these meals. The Y is attempting to close that gap this summer by keeping kids healthy and fed, enabling them to attain their full potential. Congressman Andy Kim is supporting this effort.
PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE JULY 5TH THROUGH AUGUST 26TH
Participating families will receive FREE nutritious lunches and snacks daily. No I.D. or application needed. Just visit the Y at 1088 West Whitty Road in Toms River and pick up healthy food for your family this summer.
To pick up your meals, simply drive up to the double doors to the left of the main entrance. A staff member will come out to greet you and ask how many children under 17 are in your household. We will then bring the food out to your car. Don’t forget to bring your own boxes and/or bags!
Food pick-up begins Tuesday, July 5th – Friday, July 8th, from 11am-1pm, and will continue Monday-Friday through August 26th. Families will be able to pick up nutritious lunches and snacks daily by simply driving up to the Y. Those wishing to participate will need to bring their own shopping bags or boxes.
