Upcoming Weather Alert:

Get Ready for Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms This Weekend in NJ

After a week of record-breaking temperatures that hit the mid 90s, New Jersey may get scattered showers and lightning on Friday.

A much stronger storm system is predicted to bring widespread rain, thunderstorms, and a sharp decrease in temperature on Sunday, even though rainfall totals are predicted to be low Friday.
Temperatures will stay above average until then.

On April 16, Atlantic City airport broke the previous record of 89 degrees established in 2002 with a new daily high temperature of 91 degrees.

Friday's highs will be in the 70s to low 80s, while Saturday's highs will mostly be in the 70s. There will be a noticeable drop in temperature in coastal areas.

A storm system is predicted to bring widespread showers, possible thunderstorms, and wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph by Sunday afternoon.

The state will benefit from the rain because of the current drought and unusually dry weather.

On Sunday night, the temperature will drop into the 30s.

Early next week, a large portion of the state may see frost overnight, and in some areas, snow or sleet may fall between Monday and early Tuesday morning.

Temperatures will rise to the 60s by Tuesday afternoon and reach highs of about 70 degrees on Wednesday. Check your local forecast.
