Jersey Shore Native Competes on Wheel of Fortune

Point Pleasant Native Competes on 'Wheel of Fortune

Gena Laielli

On Thursday night, Wheel of Fortune viewers got to watch Gena Laielli formerly of Point Pleasant spin the wheel and try to solve problems on the popular hit program.

Laielli, who grew up next to St. Martha's Church, in Pt. Pleasant made an appearance on Thursday's installment of the show.

Nurse Laielli, 41, co-owns GenFitness in Somers Point with her brother Vincent Rivera. She currently resides in Northfield. She added that "Wheel of Fortune" is her favorite television program, and she and her family regularly watch it and play the board game.

It was the best experience she has ever had.

Gena Laielli also broke a Burpee Guinness World Record back in 2020 when she appeared on another fitness reality show.

In 2020, Laielli set a Guinness World Record for the most burpees performed by a woman in a 12-hour period (5,332). She accomplished this accomplishment to raise money for omphalocele research, a rare birth condition in which a baby's intestines or other abdominal organs protrude from the body. According to a 2020 Daily Mail article, her daughter Emma was born with the abnormality and received treatment at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. In 2022, a woman from Virginia broke the record.

On the Tom Rowland Podcast in 2020, Laielli spoke in-depth about Emma's condition and life-saving therapies. It is accessible on YouTube. The journey of the family was also documented by CHOP on the hospital's website.
