According to Toms River Police, a New York man was issued a ticket after colliding with a Toms River police car on Sunday night as it was responding to an emergency.
About 9 p.m. on Sunday, Brian Ayres, 55, of Pearl River, New York, struck the police car while driving in the left lane of Route 37 going west, according to Jillian Messina, a media relations specialist with the
Toms River Police Department.
Having his emergency lights and siren activated, the police officer was responding to a complaint about a boat that had run aground on a barrier island, tossing people off and causing injuries, when he was struck, according to Messina.
