Boat Crash in Toms River Leaves 4 People Injured

According to Ocean Beach Fire Company authorities, there were seven persons on board the boat that capsized on Middle Sedge Island.

According to Toms River Police, a boat ran aground on Middle Sedge Island in Barnegat Bay off the area of Chadwick Beach on Sunday, injuring four persons.

Seven persons were on board a boat that was cruising in the vicinity of Middle Sedge Island and the Chadwick Beach region of Toms River Township when it reportedly entered a shallow spot, grounded, and lost speed, dropping passengers into the ocean. Authorities reported that the accident happened shortly after 9 p.m., upping the stakes for the search because it was now dark outside.

Police, EMS, and fire units were sent to the vicinity of Boca Raton Drive on Chadwick Island for a reported boat that ran aground with passengers being evacuated, according to Toms River police spokeswoman Jillian Messina.

According to representatives of Ocean Beach Volunteer Fire Company, the collision was first reported at 9 p.m. Sunday.

According to officials, the first responders discovered seven people on the boat, four of whom were hurt. According to officials, all seven were transported to hospitals by boat to waiting EMS units.

According to officials, one victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

In addition to Toms River Police, EMS units from Toms River Community Service Officers, Silverton EMS, Lavallette, South Toms River EMS, and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson, according to Ocean Beach fire officials, East Dover, Silverton, and Island Heights fire companies also assisted in the initial response.

According to Ocean Beach Volunteer Fire Company facebook page, Lavallette Fire Company handled the landing zone for the patient being who was flown out. They praised the outstanding efforts by all who responded to remove all occupants and get those injured to shore as quickly as possible.
