The Toms River Police Department is asking the community for help in finding fresh, unique locations for its K‑9 unit to train. Officers say that varying the environment is essential for keeping the dogs sharp, adaptable, and ready for real‑world situations.

According to the department, the K‑9 team is looking for privately owned or publicly accessible spaces that offer different layouts, obstacles, or sensory challenges. These can include warehouses, large yards, wooded areas, abandoned or unused buildings, construction sites, commercial properties, or any location that provides a change of scenery from standard training grounds.

Police emphasize that all training is controlled, supervised, and conducted with respect for the property owner’s rules and comfort level. Sessions typically last a few hours and involve obedience work, scent detection, tracking, and scenario‑based exercises.
