U-Haul Truck Damages 3 Cop Cars in 100-Mile Chase Through Ocean & Monmouth Counties

Arrested: Zachariah Hartman, 38 of Toms River
According to Jackson Police Department, a two-hour, 100-mile pursuit on Saturday night resulted in an arrest in Jackson after a Toms River man operating a U-Haul rental truck collided with three police vehicles, according to authorities.
Two counts of evading, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of obstruction were brought against 38-year-old Zachariah Hartman.
There were no complaints of chase-related injuries.

According to Howell Police Sgt. Peter Kuppler, the Longhorn Steakhouse was the scene of an altercation between a patron and a customer who was acting erratically.
When they got there, Hartman drove away and hit a Howell police car, according to Kuppler. Hartman hit two more police cruisers during the pursuit through the township, he claimed, rendering one of them disabled.
Six more municipalities were included in the 100-mile pursuit: Freehold, Freehold Township, Colts Neck, Millstone Township, Plumsted, Jackson, and Lakewood, according to Kuppler.
Hartman is awaiting a detention hearing at the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township.
