According to Howell Police Sgt. Peter Kuppler, the Longhorn Steakhouse was the scene of an altercation between a patron and a customer who was acting erratically.

When they got there, Hartman drove away and hit a Howell police car, according to Kuppler. Hartman hit two more police cruisers during the pursuit through the township, he claimed, rendering one of them disabled.

Six more municipalities were included in the 100-mile pursuit: Freehold, Freehold Township, Colts Neck, Millstone Township, Plumsted, Jackson, and Lakewood, according to Kuppler.

Hartman is awaiting a detention hearing at the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township.
