As Another Arctic Blast Approaches New Jersey, More Snow and Freezing Temperatures are Expected

Could We Get More Snow?

As winter continues to attack New Jersey with colder-than-average weather, more cold and snow is on the way.

According to Brian Haines, a weather service meteorologist in Mount Holly, the National Weather Service is forecasting little more than an inch of snow on Thursday morning.

"It's definitely going to be cold" from there, Haines said. More subzero temperatures are forecast to hit the state late Thursday and again late Friday.

The temperatures in New Jersey this week are on average 10 degrees colder than normal. The Arctic air blowing in from northeastern Canada could bring snow this weekend, according to Haines.

Whether it snows depends on where a low pressure system approaching the area settles, according to Haine. If it moves further inland, much of New Jersey will see a rain and snow mix. He warned that if it's hugging the coast, there may be a lot of snow. It's possible that the low pressure system will migrate out to sea.

Saturday's snow could be "potentially heavy at times with considerable snow accumulation," according to nynjpaweather.com.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures along the Jersey Shore will drop to the mid-teens late Thursday and late Friday.
