According to State Police, William Sabo, 22, of Berkeley, is Accused of Shooting a Man Near Exit 80 Southbound on GSP

William Sabo, 22, of Berkeley, New Jersey, was detained by the New Jersey State Police for reportedly flashing a weapon and shooting at another car on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County.

On January 12, troopers from the State Police Galloway Station and detectives from Troop "D" Criminal Investigation Office were dispatched to the Community Medical Center in Toms River in response to a report of a gunshot on the Garden State Parkway. When troopers arrived, they discovered a male victim who had been hit by gunshot while driving northbound on the Garden State Parkway near exit 80.

Detectives discovered that the victim had an encounter with the driver of a black Dodge Charger at a gas station in Manchester Township during the inquiry. The victim and suspect both exited the gas station in the same direction after the confrontation. A short time later, the victim drove onto the Garden State Parkway, when the suspect fired a revolver at her vehicle. The victim suffered a non-life threatening knee injury and was driven to Community Medical Center by another vehicle occupant. The victim gave a description of the suspect, who then ran away from the crime site.

Detectives and personnel of the Manchester Township Police Department used numerous investigative techniques to identify the suspect car engaged in the shooting and discovered that Sabo fired at the victim's vehicle from the passenger side. Detectives from the Troop "D" Criminal Investigation Office, along with members of the State Police K9 Unit, TEAMS Unit, Berkeley Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, executed a search warrant at Sabo's Berkeley Township home on January 14 and arrested him without incident.

Detectives seized a.40 caliber handgun, a.32 caliber revolver, two high-capacity magazines, 2.5 ounces of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia after searching Sabo's home and vehicle, a gray Kia Forte.

William Sabo was charged with attempted homicide, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, illegal possession of a weapon during a CDS offense, illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine, illegal possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and illegal possession of CDS paraphernalia. The Ocean County Jail housed William Sabo.

Charges are only accusations, and the accused is presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty.
