Three Ocean County Residents Charged with Narcotics Distribution
Authorities said they charged three people after a search of a Toms River residence yielded cocaine and cash.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said three persons are facing drug distribution charges after authorities found heroin and nearly 60 grams of cocaine during an investigation into narcotics distribution in the county.
Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said Jamar Montgomery, 28, of Lakewood, Kevin Hunter, 33, of Toms River, and Diana Mendez, 33, of Lakewood, were arrested last week.
According to Billhimer, the inquiry discovered two properties in Toms River that were being used to store and sell narcotics, one by Montgomery and the other by Hunter and Mendez.
The three were pulled over and arrested on March 2 and 3 as a consequence of the inquiry. Montgomery was apprehended on March 2 by Lakewood police, who saw him throw a bag out the window of the vehicle, according to Billhimer.
Officers discovered 250 wax folds of heroin, roughly 30 grams of crack cocaine, and $1,300 in cash in the bag, according to Billhimer. Montgomery was also caught with a knife in his possession.
He was brought to the Ocean County Jail after being arrested.
On March 3, Lakewood police stopped a car in which Hunter was the driver and Mendez was the passenger. Detectives conducted search warrants at the two homes in Toms River while they were being held and seized 30 grams of crack cocaine, digital scales, drug packaging material, and $2,500 in cash, according to Billhimer.
Hunter and Mendez were brought to the Ocean County Jail after being detained.
Montgomery was charged with attempting to conceal or destroy evidence, possession of less than a half-ounce of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of less than 5 ounces of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, cocaine, possession of a weapon during the commission of controlled dangerous substance activity, unlawful possession of a weapon, eluding, and possession of a weapon during the commission of controlled dangerous substance activity, according to the prosecutor's office.
Hunter was charged with distribution of less than a half-ounce of cocaine, possession of less than 5 ounces of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of less than 5 ounces of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property, possession of less than 5 ounces of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property, possession of less than 5 ounces of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of more than 1 ounce but less than 5 pounds of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of less than 5.
Mendez was charged with possessing less than 5 ounces of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possessing more than 1 ounce but less than 5 pounds of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possessing more than a half-ounce but less than 5 ounces of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property, and possessing cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
