John Williams, 56, of Toms River,

John Williams, 56, of Toms River

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, on March 21, 2022, John Williams, 56, of Toms River, was found guilty following a jury trial of Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of a Compound of Heroin, Fentanyl and 4-ANPP.

Williams' sentence has been set for May 13, 2022, by the Honorable Guy P. Ryan, J.S.C., who presided over the trial.

On November 10, 2020, detectives from the Lakewood Township Police Department's Street Crimes Unit spotted Williams and a second suspect hunched behind two motor vehicles for approximately 30 seconds in a parking lot between 2nd and 3rd Streets. After that, the second person walked away from the scene.

When detectives approached Williams, they smelled a strong odor of raw marijuana on his person. Following that, a search of Williams based on the stench of marijuana yielded 164 wax folds of a heroin, fentanyl, and 4-ANPP complex, roughly 17 grams of cocaine, a quantity of marijuana, a digital scale, plastic baggies, and around $1,250 in US money.

Williams was apprehended and transferred to the Ocean County Jail, where he has been since the time of his arrest. He will stay incarcerated in the Ocean County Jail until his sentencing.

Assistant Prosecutor Victoria Veni, who ably tried the case on behalf of the State, was recognized by Prosecutor Billhimer for her dedication and hard work. The Prosecutor appreciates the efforts of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Strike Force, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Trial Unit, the Lakewood Township Police Department, and the Lakewood Township Police Department Street Crimes Unit in bringing Williams to justice.
